I can’t make my booking. Will I get a refund?

We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy and if you inform us of your cancellation at outside of that time window, we can issue a refund (subject to a 5% admin charge as stated in our T&Cs). If your booking is within the next 48 hours, we cannot offer a refund but will reschedule your reservation.

Why haven’t I received an email confirmation?

A confirmation email is sent out automatically to every online booking. If you haven’t received this, please check your junk folder and that the email address you gave us is correct. Alternatively, send us an email to with the time, date and the name of the booking and we will reissue the confirmation.

Do I need to bring my email confirmation with me?

No. We have all of your booking information at reception.

Can I bring children or babies?

Children are very welcome but must be off the premises by 7pm (due to a condition on our Premises License). Please bear in mind that you are responsible for the behaviour of your younger guests.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

We have a step at our front door but have an access ramp at reception to assist entry. There is a fixed disabled ramp up to the lanes, low access to one side of the bar and a disabled toilet on ground level.

Can I visit just for drinks or food?

East Street Lanes has a fully-stocked bar serving draught, canned and bottled beers, cocktails, mocktails, milkshakes, soft and hot drinks. Both our food and drinks menus are available to view on this website.

Do I have to book in advance?

Booking in advance isn’t absolutely necessary as we welcome walk-in customers throughout the week. However, we do recommended you book for a Friday and Saturday as we are usually very busy.

How long does it take for 1 game of bowling?

We allot 10 minutes per player per game, so 2 bowlers will have a 20 minute slot, 6 bowlers a 60 minute slot, etc. This is slightly longer than the average time it takes to play and allows us a few minutes to prepare the lane for the party following you.

Can you accommodate a large party?

You can book a party of up to 18 players online. If you want to bring a larger party, please complete the party booking enquiry form (?) and we will be happy to create the booking for you.

I have a booking but want to add more players How do I do this?

Send the information to quoting the booking name, date and a contact telephone number. We will then add your extra guests and call you to take a card payment. Guests not paid for will not be shown on the reservation.

What is the dress code?

We are a family venue so all we ask is that you dress appropriately and remove any caps, visors, hoods or helmets so we can see your wonderful smiles.

How many people can bowl on one lane?

A maximum of 6.

Can you decorate our lane for my birthday party/event?

As a considerable proportion of our visitors are celebrating, we ask that you arrange to do this yourselves. Please do not place any decorations beyond the white line for reasons of safety.

Can I bowl in my own shoes?

Flat-soled and closed-toe shoes are perfectly fine although this is at the discretion of the duty manager.

What is the lightest ball available?

We have 6lb (XS) balls available at reception. These are only available to small children and we ask that you return them to reception after you’ve bowled. We also have ball ramps and can raise the barriers to assist little ones bowl.

How old do you have to be to bowl?

We welcome bowlers of all ages as long as they are strong and fit enough to safely enjoy time on the lanes.

Do you offer any discounts?

Students, teachers, NHS, emergency services and armed forces pay £5 per game from Sunday at 5pm until Friday at 5pm.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

Can I make a booking and pay on the day?

I’m afraid not. All bookings must be paid for in full at the point of reservation.

Do you have age restrictions?

We have a licensing condition which states that anybody under the age of 18 must be off the premises by 7pm. There are no exceptions to this condition and must be adhered to whether you have finished bowling or not.
